Geologist, Group A: Master's Degree in Geological Science, Geology, Applied Geology, Geo-Exploration, Mineral Exploration, Engineering Geology, Marine Geology, Earth Science and Resource Management, Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies, Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry.

Geophysicist / Scientist 'B' (Geophysics): M.Sc. in Physics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Exploration Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Marine Geophysics or relevant equivalent qualifications.

Chemist / Scientist 'B' (Chemical): M.Sc. in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.

Scientist 'B' (Hydrogeology) / Assistant Hydrogeologist: Master's Degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Marine Geology or Hydrogeology.

Assistant Chemist: M.Sc. / Integrated M.Sc. in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Hydro-Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry.

Assistant Geologist: Master's Degree / Integrated Master's Degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Mineral Exploration, Marine Geology or Earth Science.

Assistant Geophysicist: M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Tech.) / Integrated M.Sc. in Geophysics, Exploration Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Geo-Exploration, Marine Geophysics, Physics, Applied Physics or Applied Geology.

  1. Visit the UPSC Online Application Portal.
  2. Create an account / complete the required registration.
  3. Complete the Universal Registration Number (URN) profile.
  4. Complete the Common Application Form (CAF).
  5. Fill the Examination Specific Module for Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027.
  6. Upload the required photograph, live photograph and signature.
  7. Pay the applicable examination fee.
  8. Select the examination centre and submit the application.
  9. Retain the generated Application Number and URN for future reference.
General Instructions
Important Instructions
  • Applications must be submitted online only through the UPSC Online Application Portal.
  • Candidates should verify all eligibility conditions before applying.
  • Required educational, age, category and disability certificates should be kept ready.
  • After submission, withdrawal of the application is not permitted.
  • No correction/alteration/modification is allowed after submission of the application.
  • Candidates must provide a valid and active email ID and mobile number.
  • Candidate must carry the Photo ID used in the application while appearing for the examination.
  • Mobile phones, smart watches and other prohibited electronic devices are not allowed inside the examination venue.
  • Entry to the examination venue closes 30 minutes before commencement of each session.
  • Face authentication and identity verification will be conducted at the examination venue.
  • Black ball pen only must be used for marking answers in the OMR sheet.
  • There is negative marking for wrong answers in Objective Type Question Papers.
  • Selection will be based on the prescribed examination stages, merit, preferences and vacancies.
